29 Day Cowboy Bebop Challenge, Day 20: Something That Happened I Wish Didn't
Cowboy Bebop is one of those shows that I feel is nearly flawless in its execution. Sure, it has its problems - "Gateway Shuffle," for example - but every detail was so exhaustively planned that to change anything would make that puzzle just sort of fall apart.
But if I were to alter something about the show, I would have left Faye without her memories. There's something so powerful about a person just taking charge of their lives when she has been struggling with their identity for so long. I actually thought that her search for her past ended when the "doctors" told her that all the data that would have been helpful was destroyed in "My Funny Valentine," so when everything was quasi-resolved later on in the series, it felt a bit empty for me. It was much more effective seeing her watch the video of her younger, more innocent self because, at that moment, Faye started to change. Not much at first, but she really did adopt the Bebop crew as her family.
Anyway, I've got to head to work, but I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
